Policy 1-11.6.30 Graduation, Promotion, and Retention
Promotion:
Arlington Public Schools provides plans for the progress of students through the school system and for graduation. These plans consider student achievement in relation to grade level objectives.
Retention:
A student may be retained in a grade when the factors listed in the Policy Implementation Procedure I-11.6.30 PIP-1 Graduation, Promotion, and Retention do not warrant assignment to the next grade. Retention will be based on academic performance in relation to the countywide objectives established at each grade level. The parents/guardians of a student considered for retention will be involved in the decision process.
