Personal Fitness I is an elective physical education course designed for students who have completed HPE I & II. This course introduces students to fitness, strength training, physical conditioning, and lifetime health concepts. It focuses on developing individualized knowledge of weight training and physical conditioning. Students will learn and master training principles and fitness center safety rules before participating in weight room laboratory experiences. The course content includes strategies and instructional techniques to improve muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and cardiorespiratory endurance. By the end of the course, students will have the necessary information and skills to plan and implement a personal fitness and conditioning program that promotes health and wellness for a lifetime.
