Computer Network Software Operations, Advanced covers advanced aspects of network administration, focusing on the management and support of network users and systems. Topics include understanding the responsibilities of computer professionals, training end users, evaluating new technology, developing system policies, troubleshooting workstations, managing network services and protocols, and effectively using email and business communications. Students learn communication protocols, troubleshooting techniques for systems and client-server networks, website management, and other advanced networking topics. Students also practice techniques used to install operating systems, set up and manage accounts, load software, and create and implement security plans. Contextual instruction and student participation in co-curricular career and technical student organization (CTSO) activities will develop leadership, interpersonal, and career skills.

Prerequisites

For none dual enrollment, the prerequisite is Computer Network Software Operations (26657).

If taking the course as dual enrollment, students must have successfully complete Cybersecurity Level 1 dual enrollment courses:  Cybersecurity Operations (96662W) and Computer Network Software Operations  (96657W),  with concurrent enrollment with  Cybersecurity  Operations, Advanced (96663 W), or permission of instructor.

Additional Credit

This course may be dual enrolled at Northern Virginia Community College. The NOVA entrance requirements must be met before registering. Please consult with your school counselor for more details.
